Introduction

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Consultants, or OMS Consultants, is a group of oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Our specialty covers the diagnosis, surgical and medical treatment of diseases, injuries and defects of the mouth and facial region. Both functional and cosmetic aspects are addressed, and patients of all ages are treated.

Rehabilitative procedures correct the results of birth defects, accidents, tumours, cancer, facial pain, malfunction of the jaw joints, sleep disorders, missing teeth and impacted teeth. The effects of aging on the face, including premature aging, can also be addressed.

At our disposal is the latest diagnostic, surgical and anaesthesia technology. In our state-of-the-art facilities, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Consultants' highly trained staff assists with a large range of procedures involving Local Anaesthesia (“freezing”) and I.V. Conscious Sedation (“twilight sleep”). Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery with the aid of the most modern equipment. In addition, General Anaesthesia (being put “completely to sleep”) is available and provided by board certified anaesthesiologists.  Our East Coast MediCenter is fully accredited by the Canadian Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, of which we are very proud.

Background Information

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a specialty of dentistry that requires up to 6 additional years of formal hospital-based surgical, medical and anaesthesia training following completion of dental school. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, we are uniquely qualified to treat a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, jaws and face.

The surgeons of OMS Consultants practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from corrective jaw surgery and wisdom tooth removal to cosmetic facial procedures. They can also diagnose and treat facial pain, oral diseases, birth defects, facial injuries, TMJ disorders, and perform a full range of dental implant procedures.

Surgical Staff

The surgical staff at Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Consultants are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who will assist your surgeon with procedures. We also have trained registered nurses (RN) to assist in the administration of I.V. sedation and surgery. All our surgical staff are informed administrative personnel, are at a minimum CPR certified, and are well-versed in the usual pre-operative and post-operative care of our patients.
