Meet Dr. Peter Stirling
Peter F. G. Stirling, DDS, MSc, FRCD(C)
Dr. Peter Stirling was born in Ottawa in 1943. As the son of navy parents he moved around a lot growing up, but eventually graduated from Lakefield College School in 1962 and went to Dalhousie University in Halifax. Here he took two years of science and was accepted into Dalhousie Dental School. While in Dentistry he was awarded several prizes and scholarships and graduated in 1968.
Dr. Stirling served in the Canadian Dental Corps and served in Ottawa, Esquimalt B.C., and at sea on H.M.C.S. Provider. While at sea he traveled to Fiji , Australia and New Zealand. Upon return to Canada Peter left the Dental Corps and started Post Graduate training at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. After graduation in 1976 he practiced in Saint John, New Brunswick until his return to Halifax in 1983. He was an instructor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery for a period of time at Dalhousie University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Stirling has his fellowship in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is a member of the CAOMS. He is also an affiliate member of both the AAOMS and ACOMS professional associations, as well as a member of the Halifax County Dental Society and the Dental Specialists of Nova Scotia, both of which he is Past President.
He has two daughters and four grand children. An avid sailor, diver and skier he was Commodore of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron.
Dr. Stirling currently practices primarily at the East Coast MediCenter and is affiliated with several local hospitals. His current interests are mainly in dentoalveolar surgery and implant surgery.
