Meet Dr. Philip Cyr
Philip L. Cyr, DDS, MSc, FRCD(C), FIAOMS, FICD
Dr. Cyr completed his dental and Oral and Maxillofacial training at Dalhousie University by 1979. He has focused his practice in the area of surgical correction of Skeletal Dentofacial Deformities and Surgical repair of Temporomandibular Joint Disorders. Dr. Cyr has been in private practice as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for 28 years.
Dr. Cyr is the founding officer of Scotia Surgery Inc. and a principal shareholder and director. Dr. Cyr is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists, Canada, Fellow of the International College of Dentists, Fellow of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Member of Canadian Dental Association, and Member of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland Dental Associations. He is also Past President, Nova Scotia Dental Association, Past President, Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Past Examiner, Royal College of Dentists, Canada, and Past Assistant Professor, Dalhousie University (OMFS). Dr. Cyr's hospital appointments include active staff, Queen Elizabeth II Health Science Center (CDHA), active staff, Dartmouth General Hospital (CDHA), courtesy staff, I.W.K. Health Science Center, and consultant staff, South Shore Regional Hospital, Hants County Regional Hospital and Eastern Health, Newfoundland. Dr. Cyr has delivered numerous clinical presentations to local, provincial, national and international meetings.
Dr. Cyr is married and has three adult children. He continues to be actively involved in sports including hockey, skiing and golf. He enjoys vacationing with his family in their motorhome in PEI and Florida.
